Answer:

y = - x - 1

Explanation:

the equation ofa line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + b ( m is the slope and b the y- intercept )

calculate m using the slope formula

m =
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

let (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 1, 0 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (5, - 6 )

substitute these values into the formula for m

m =
(-6-0)/(5-(-1)) =
(-6)/(5+1) =
(-6)/(6) = - 1 , then

y = - x + b ← is the partial equation

to find b , substitute either of the 2 points into the partial equation

using (5, - 6 )

- 6 = - 5 + b ( add 5 to both sides )

- 1 = b

y = - x - 1 ← equation of line
