Baseballs: 12, 24, 72, 36
Gloves (feet): 3, 6, 18, 9

———

The common ratio of 12/3 = 4/1. A table of values in direct variation will share an equal ratio.
To find the missing baseball value for 6 gloves (feet):
4/1 = x/6
x = (4*6)/1
x = 24

To find the missing gloves (feet) value for 72 baseballs:
4/1 = 72/x
x = (1*72)/4
x = 18

To find the missing baseball value for 9 gloves (feet):
4/1 = x/9
x = (4*9)/1
x = 36

Check equivalence:
12/3 = 4/1;

x/6 = 4/1
24/6 = 4/1;

72/x = 4/1
72/18 = 4/1;

x/9 = 4/1
36/9 = 4/1;

All the ratios are equal.
