Sandra just finished planting avocados,

carrots, radishes, tomatoes, and spinach in her new garden. The
garden is a circle whose diameter is 50 yards. If she planted equal
regions of each vegetable, what is the area of Sandra’s garden that
has carrots? Use 3.14 for p.

Answer: 392.5 square yards (approximate)

Step-by-step explanation

The diameter is 50 yards. Half of that is the radius 25 yards.

Let's find the area of the entire circle.

Area = pi*(radius)^2

A = pi*r^2

A = 3.14*25^2

A = 1962.5

The entire garden has the approximate area of about 1962.5 square yards. This area is approximate because pi = 3.14 is approximate.

Divide this area result by 5 because we have split this area equally among the 5 types of vegetables.

(1962.5)/5 = 392.5 square yards is the approximate area set aside for carrots.
