L = 11 yd

W = 8 yd

Explanation:

Let Width = W

Length = W + 3

A = LxW

88 = W(W+ 3)

88 = W² + 3W

W² + 3W - 88 = 0

by factoring

(W+11)(W-8)=0

W = -11 and W = 8

use the positive one

W = 8

Length = W + 3

L = 8 + 3

L = 11
