Explanation:

Lets represent the first and second numbers as letters: a and b. We can then turn these sentences into equasions.

2a +b = 11 and a +2b = 10

If we double the second equasion we get:

2a +4b = 20

And if we subtract the first equasion from that we get:

2a +4b -(2a +b) = 20 -11 so 3b = 9 so b = 3

Now we know the second number is 3 we can put that in the first equasion:

2a +3 = 11 so 2a = 8 so a = 4

The first is 4 and the second is 3.
