Explanation:

(4x² + x + 1)² - 2

Now, we just solve.

(4x² + x + 1)² - 2 Original equation
4x⁴ + x² + 1 - 2 Multiply the exponent into the parentheses
4x⁴ + x² - 1 Subtract the 2

When we plug f(x) for the x of g(x), we get 4x⁴ + x² - 1.
