V = Vx i + Vy j where the vector V is resolved into its components

Vx and Vy where "i" represents the positive x-direction and "j" the positive y-direction (vectors i and j are unit (value 1))in the specified directions

(Note) (B) any vector (two dimensional) can be resolved into its X and Y components and hence into the resultant of (Vx^2 + Vy^2)^1/2
