Answer: 2

Explanation:

The greatest common factor of 44, 40, and 50 can be found by doing a factor tree-

44 can be split into 2 x 22.

40 can be split into 2 x 20.

50 can be split into 2 x 25.

continue doing this until you are left with ONLY prime numbers.

2 is a prime number so we keep that for 44.

22 can be split into 2 x 11.

those are both prime numbers.

44= 2 x 2 x 11

2 is a prime number, so we keep that for 40.

20 can be split into 2 x 10.

10 can be split into 2 x 5.

now that we have all prime numbers, 40 can be written as-

40= 2 x 2 x 2 x 5

2 is a prime number, so we keep that for 50.

25 can be split into 5 x 5.

those are both prime numbers.

50= 2 x 5 x 5

now, you take all the prime numbers from 44, 40, and 50 and see what prime numbers they ALL have in common.

in this case, the only prime number they ALL have in common is 2.
