this gives the coordinate point (4, - 1)

similarly

f(- 2) = 8 means when x = - 2 then y = 8

this gives the coordinate point (- 2, 8 )

calculate the slope m using the slope formula

(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

let (x₁, y₁ ) = (4, - 1 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (- 2, 8 )

substitute these values into the formula for m

m =
(8-(-1))/(-2-4) =
