Slope-intercept equation

Since we're given both a point and the slope, we will use the point-slope formula (below) & simplify it to slope-intercept.

point-slope is:


  • \sf{y-y_1=m(x-x_1)}

Substitute the coordinates & the slope:


  • \sf{y-0=-3(x-(-4)}

  • \sf{y=-3(x+4)}

  • \sf{y=-3x-12} <- slope-intercept equation

Therefore, the equation is y = -3x - 12.
