Just wondering, what is the difference between "ya he " and "hoy he"?

Is it okay to use either one to describe what I have done today?

Here are the sentences I want to use, but I am not sure which ones

Hoy he estudiado para mis exámenes.
Ya he estudiado para mis exámenes.
