Is 6 a solution to the equation x2 - 4 = 5x

Explanation:

2x-4=5x

-4 = 3x

x = -4/3

Keep x as a fraction, don't change it into a decimal.

Just because 6 is a whole number, positive, and cut off from -6.6 repeating does not make it right. If you plug in 6, it would not be correct, so -4/3 is the correct answer.
