Answer: 5.9

Explanation:

one yard is 3 feet, therefore he has 7.5 feet in ribbon. If he has 1.6 left you then have to subtract 1.6 from the 7.5 which equals 5.9 feet

Answer: 6 feet

This is equivalent to 72 inches, and also equivalent to 2 yards

Work Shown

2 & 1/2 yards = 2.5 yards

1 yard = 3 feet

2.5*(1 yard) = 2.5*(3 feet)

2.5 yards = 7.5 feet

1 foot + 6 inches = 1 foot + 0.5 foot = 1.5 feet

Mick starts with 7.5 feet of ribbon. After using some amount, he has 1.5 feet of ribbon left over. Therefore he must have used 7.5 - 1.5 = 6 feet of ribbon.

Side notes:

  • 6 feet = 6*12 = 72 inches
  • 6 feet = 6/3 = 2 yards
