Dominic is signing up for a gym membership with a one-time fee to join and then a monthly fee to remain a member. The monthly fee is $50 and the one-time joining fee is $150. What would be the total cost after 5 months?

Answer:

$350

Explanation:

For the first time joining, Dominic need to pay $150, and for the next 4 months, he need to pay (4 x $50) $200. So you could just add both prices

$200

$150

--------- +

$350

(NB; I don't know if after the sign up need to pay for another monthly fee or not, [If so, you could just add $350 and $50, resulting $400])

Y = 150 + 50x

Y = Cost, X = # of Months

Y = 150 + 50(5)

Y = 150 + 250

Y = 400
