note that y = f(x)

f(x) = 1 , means the value of y = f(x) is 1

to find the value of x that makes f(x) = 1

locate y = 1 on the y- axis , then go right horizontally to meet the line at the point (2, 1 ), that is x = 2 when y = 1

so when f(x) = 1 the corresponding value of x = 2
