The connection between human activity and environmental changes is very apparent when you look at climate change and how the Earth’s terrain has changed in the past 100 years. People cut down an average of 15 billion trees per year (from an article on time.com), which amounts to about 1,815,000,000,000 trees cut down since 1900. This is as a result of technological advancement by humans, and human activity has affected many other facets of the environment. For example, as a result of the increased use of fossil fuels to power machinery, the increased process of extracting natural resources to the point of near scarcity, and the destroying of environments to satisfy human needs, the environment has been suffering greatly. One prime instance of this environmental damage is climate change, which is when the climate changes as a result of pollutants in the atmosphere. These pollutants are a direct result of the increased human activity in the machinery and technology industries, as the burning of fossil fuels and the operating of machinery release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, damaging the atmosphere. The use of machinery and fossil fuels really began to pick up steam in the 1900’s. So, as a result of increased human activity in environmental affairs since 1900, the environment has suffered greatly, increasing the global climate, decreasing oxygen levels, and increasing the risk of UV ray damage to living organisms.

Starting in the 1900s, technologies and industrial developments advanced enormously, modifying the living conditions of human beings in general, throughout the entire width and length of the earth's surface.

Thus, starting with the Industrial Revolution of the mid-1800s, technologies such as the steam engine and the development of automated means of production generated a series of technological advances that allowed a greater modification of the environmental environment of human beings, in in order to guarantee better living conditions.

Now, these modifications, which at first were not harmful or at least not to a great extent, over the years and the development of technological advances began to impact the environment: the extraction of raw materials began To generate scarcity of them, the emission of gases into the atmosphere began to generate the phenomenon of global warming, and even indiscriminate hunting led to the extinction of hundreds of thousands of animal species.
