This is just a fancy way your teacher saying that when you have an equation y=
4^(x)+1, what is y when x=-1,0,3.

We just need to solve by substituting the x in respectively.

x=-1, y=
(5)/(4)

x=0, y=1

x=3, y=65

Hope this helped! Any questions just put it in the comments.
