If the sum and their difference of two angles are 200 and 20° respectively, find the angles in degree.​

Explanation:

let the 2 angles be x and y ( x > y ) , then form 2 equations and solve simultaneously , that is

x + y = 200 → (1)

x - y = 20 → (2)

adding the 2 equations term by term will eliminate y

(x + x) + (y - y) = 200 + 20

2x + 0 = 220

2x = 220 ( divide both sides by 2 )


(2)/(2) x =
(220)/(2) , that is

x = 110

substitute x = 110 into (1) and solve for y

110 + y = 200 ( subtract 110 from both sides )

110 - 110 + y = 200 - 110 , that is

y = 90

the 2 angles have a measure of 110° and 90°
