a) perimeter of the proposed parking lot

perimeter = sum of all sides

x + (x - 5) + x + 15 + x + 2x + 15 + (2x - 5)

x + x - 5 + x + 15 + x + 2x + 15 + 2x - 5

8x + 20

b) x = 2

8(2) + 22 = 16 + 22 = 38 cm

therefore, if x = 2 than perimeter of the proposed parking lot will be 38 cm.

PART 2

a) area of proposed parking lot

area of I + area of II

area = length × width

length and width of I is x - 5 and x respectively

therefore,

area of I = x ( x - 5) = x² - 5x

area of II = Length × width

length and width of II is 2x + 15 and x respectively.

therefore,

area of II = x(2x + 15) = 2x² + 15x

now,

area of the proposed parking lot is

x² - 15x + 2x² + 15x = 3x²

b) if x = 2

3(2)² + 10(2) = 3(4) + 20 = 12 + 20 = 32 cm²

therefore, is x = 2 than the area of proposed parking lot will be 32cm².
