then sum the 2 items and equate to total cost , that is

t + b = 803 ( substitute t = b - 97 into the equation )

b - 97 + b = 803

2b - 97 + 97 = 803 + 97 ( simplify )

2b = 900 ( divide both sides by 2 )

(900)/(2) , that is b = 450
