- Your school needs to print souvenirs. You call two different print shops about prices. Shop A charges a set-up fee of $40 for preparing the souvenirs and $2.50 per souvenir to be printed. Shop B charges a set-up fee of $55 for preparing the souvenirs and $2 per souvenir to be printed. If the total cost is the same for each company, how many souvenirs is the company printing? I

Answer:

...x = the number of memories to print

Shop A charges a setup fee of $40 for preparing souvenirs and $2.50 per souvenir to be printed

cost = 2.5x+40

Shop B charges a setup fee of $55 for preparing souvenirs and $2 per souvenir to be printed.

cost: 2x+55

If the total cost is the same for each company, how many souvenirs does the company print?

2.5x+40=2x+55

2.5x-2x=55-40

0.5x=15

x=15/0.5=30

the company prints 30 souvenirs
