Answer:

4 bags of chips

8 containers of cheese dip.

Explanation:

Frame an equation with one variable with the given information.

Let the number of bags of chips be 'x'.

The number of cheese dips = 2 * number of bags of chips

= 2x

Cost of a bag of chip = $ 2

Cost of 'x' bags of chips = 2*x = $ 2x

Cost of a cheese dip = $3.75

Cost of '2x' of cheese dip = 3.75 * 2x

= $ 7.50x

Total cost = $38

2x + 7.50x = 38

Combine the like terms,

9.50x = 38

Divide both sides by 9.50,

x = 38 ÷ 9.50

x = 4

Number of bags of chips = 4

Number of containers of cheese dip = 4*2 = 8
