Answer: y = 70

Explanation:

First I'm going to solve for x

6x - 100 = 2x + 40

4x - 100 = 40

4x = 140

x = 35

We solve for the the angle verticle to the equation with Y

2(35)+40

70+40 = 110

So now we can finally find y

3y - 100 = 110

3y = 210

y = 70

Answer: y = 70

Explanation:

Since 6x - 100 is the same angle as both 2x + 40, and 3y - 100, we can hopefully solve the equation by using this formula:

6x - 100 = 2x + 40 (add/subtract to simplify)

4x = 140 (divide by 4)

x = 35

This means that the angle measure is 2(35) + 40, or, 70 + 40 which is 110. If you take the angle measure and use it in the equation below, you get your answer

3y - 100 = 110 (add/subtract to simplify)

3y = 210 (divide by 3)

y = 70

hope this helps :)
