A coin is weighted deliberately so that the probability of tossing heads is 0.6 on one toss.

a) What is the probability of tossing three heads in a row? 0.216 b) What is the probability of tossing three tails in a row?
c) What is the probability of tossing two heads and one tail, in any order?

Answer:

For a) the probability of tossing 3 heads= 1.8

and the probability for tossing 3 tails is 1.2

For b)The probability of tossing 2 heads and 1tail=1.6

Explanation:

a) (i) we say Probability (of 3 heads)

=0.6+0.6+0.6

=1.8

(ii) we say Probability of (3tails)

=Probability is out of 1-0.6= 0.4

= So the probability of a tail on one

outcome is 0.4 therefore on 3

outcomes it is 0.4+0.4+0.4

=1.2

b)we say Probability of (2 heads and one tail)

= 0.6+0.6+0.4
