Explanation:

There 8 shaded shapes two of which are squares and 10 unshaded triangles assuming two of which add up to the total area of the shaded square. If we bisect the squares into equal trianglea we get 10 shaded triangles and 10 unshaded triangles, each triangle has one corresponding to it's size therefore the area for each shaded=unshaded. Meaning 50/50.
