Explanation:

2(y+5)=(y-8)

2y + 10 = y - 8

2y - y = -8 - 10

You will multiply the 2 by y and 5

So

2y+10=y-8

Subtract y from both sides

y+10=-8

Subtract 10 from both side

y= -18
