Answer:

12.
5(3)/(4)

13.
4(2)/(3)

Explanation:

Remember if the denominator of the two fractions you're supposed to be adding are the same, you simply add the numerators to get your answer.

Question 12:

2(1)/(8) +3(5)/(8)
Add the whole numbers:

2+3=5
Add the numerators:

1+5=6

=5(6)/(8)
Simplify the fraction since the numerator and the denominator are both divisible by two:

(6)/(8)/ 2=(3)/(4)

=5(3)/(4)

Question 13:
Do the same thing as we did with question 12 just remember to subtract instead of adding.

5(5)/(6) -1(1)/(6)
Subtract the whole numbers:

5-1=4
Subtract the numerators:

5-1=4

4(4)/(6)
Simplify the fraction since the numerator and denominator are both divisible by 2:

(4)/(6) /2=(2)/(3)

=4(2)/(3)

I hope this helps.
