\sf{x}^(2) + 5x + 4 = 0

  • Write 5x as sum of 4x and x

\sf{x}^(2) + 4x + x+ 4 = 0

  • Factor out x from the equation

\sf \: x (x + 4) + 1(x+ 4 )= 0

\sf \: (x + 4) (x+ 1)= 0

\implies \tt \: x = - 4 \: and \: x = - 1
