Ben and david have some money. If Ben spent $5, both of them will have equal money. If David spent $5, the ratio of the amount of money david left to the amount of money ben left will be 3:5. How much money did both of them had together?

Answer:

(d - 5)/d = 3/5

3d = 5(d - 5)

3d = 5d - 25

2d = 25

d = $12.50

Together, Ben and David had

$7.50 + $12.50 = $20.00.
