Write a Public forum debate case AGAINST the Han dynasty, with your side being the discovery of the new world.

The goal is to persuade the judges that the discovery of the new world was more impactful than the Han dynasty.

This debate should be decided on which event had the greatest impact in world history.

The Han Dynasty’s scope is greatly exaggerated. It influenced parts of East Asia, namely China. However, other places had their own great empires at the time, with significant acheivements that are on par with the Han Dynasty. For example, Rome reached its peak during the Han Dynasty’s reign. While the Han Dynasty created an innovative society for itself, the Discovery of the New World took to spreading its innovations and ideals throughout the world, making it more impactful overall.

The USA a direct effect of Europe discovering the new world, has more resources than the Han Dynasty did, and is the most powerful country in the world. The United States has worked around the globe, promotes peace, and engages in various diplomatic, economic, and military efforts to advance its interests and objectives. Meanwhile the Han dynasty was localized in East Asia, playing a smaller role.

Also, the opponents points on Confucianism are exaggerated as well. While confucianism is important, it is mostly localized to East Asia. Meanwhile, Europe discovering the Americas had a huge social impact. And it ended up causing an exchange of cultures, ideas, and knowledge in addition to bringing together otherwise separated cultures. The Silk roads they had don’t stand up in comparison to the great Atlantic trade routes, which helped globailzation at the time.

Furthermore, the Han dynasty severely lacks modern-day influence. Its small scope and tools may have been large contributors to this. Although it may have been influential in modern-day China, it wasn’t the first to unite China and had most of its impacts localized in China. Unlike the Han Dynasty, Europe discovering the new world led to the development of several global superpowers and had a profound impact on the world. It also led to the start of two new eras of globalization and colonization, which eventually led to the largest empire in world history. The USA has more resources than the Han Dynasty and is the most powerful country in the USA. The USA worked around the globe, promoted peace, and continues to play a major role in the world. Meanwhile the Han dynasty was localized in East Asia, playing a smaller role. The Han dynasty is just one empire while the discovery of the new world led to the creation of multiple global superpowers.

My opponents point on the Han Dynasty being a reason for why Europe discovered the Americas are completely false. If the navigational improvements from the Han Dynasty were why Columbus reached the Americas, how come his findings were completely off? What Columbus had done was use mismatching and faulty data in an attempt to find Asia, not America. Attributing the Han Dynasty to Columbus accidentally coming across the Americas is illogical. Additionally, the han dynasty believed the earth was flat.

Finally, Native American deaths are still impactful. We are debating on what is the more impactful event, not the better event. This shows why the native american population is so little today.

How can my opponents say that a dynasty that was localized in East Asia and had little significant modern-day influence is more important than the discovery of an entire subcontinent, ultimately leading to the creation of several global superpowers, and new eras of globalization and colonization. My opponents have no arguments that still stand, which is why I urge you to vote in favor of “Europe discovers the new world.”

I hope this helped!

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed judges, and fellow debaters,

Today, we gather here to discuss a topic of great historical significance: whether the discovery of the new world or the Han dynasty had a more profound impact on the course of human history. While the Han dynasty undoubtedly left a significant mark on ancient China, we firmly contend that the discovery of the new world holds greater importance in shaping the global trajectory.

First and foremost, the discovery of the new world sparked a monumental era of exploration, trade, and cultural exchange that reshaped the world as we know it. Columbus's voyage to the Americas in 1492 marked the beginning of a new chapter in history, leading to the Columbian Exchange, which facilitated the exchange of goods, ideas, and cultures between the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. This exchange not only enriched economies but also introduced new foods, crops, and technologies that revolutionized societies across continents. In contrast, while the Han dynasty's advancements were significant for its time, they were largely confined to the East Asian region and had limited global impact.

Furthermore, the discovery of the new world resulted in the spread of knowledge and enlightenment. The encounters between different civilizations prompted Europeans to question their own assumptions, leading to the Age of Enlightenment and the Scientific Revolution. These intellectual revolutions fostered the development of modern science, philosophy, and political thought that laid the foundation for the modern world. The Han dynasty, while impressive in its achievements, did not trigger such widespread intellectual awakening or contribute as profoundly to the advancement of human knowledge.

Moreover, the discovery of the new world facilitated the establishment of a global economy and interconnectedness that persists to this day. The establishment of trade routes, such as the Silk Road and the maritime routes connecting Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, paved the way for the global exchange of goods, ideas, and cultures. These exchanges enriched societies and fueled the rise of colonial powers, shaping the geopolitical landscape for centuries. On the other hand, the Han dynasty's influence remained relatively localized to East Asia and did not have the same far-reaching economic and cultural impact.

In conclusion, while the Han dynasty's accomplishments are to be acknowledged and admired, we firmly believe that the discovery of the new world was more impactful in shaping the trajectory of human history. The era of exploration, cultural exchange, and global interconnectedness that followed the discovery of the new world has left an indelible mark on societies, economies, and intellectual progress around the world. It is this impact, spanning continents and centuries, that sets the discovery of the new world apart as a historical event of unparalleled significance.

Thank you.
