We know that acceleration due to gravity goes on decreasing as we ascend upwards. And from the formulae, W= m×g we can find that acceleration due to gravity is directly proportional to the weight of a body. So, at the foot of mountain the value of g is comparatively high that's why weight of body also is more at the foot of a mountain.
