What is 0.48 repeating as a fraction in simplest form?

Answer: 16/33

Work Shown

x = 0.484848...

100x = 48.484848...

100x-x = (48.484848...) - (0.484848...)

99x = 48

x = 48/99

x = (16*3)/(33*3)

x = 16/33

As confirmation, use a calculator to see that 16/33 = 0.484848... where the "48"s repeat forever.

Notice in the jump from step 3 to step 4, the decimal portions cancel out completely.
