Benzene, also known as hydrocarbon, is a compound that has a ring-like structure with six carbon atoms and six hydrogen atoms. The benzene ring has both sigma and pi bonds.

Sigma bonds are the regular covalent bonds between the 2s and 2p sigma orbitals. These bonds hold the carbon atoms together to form the benzene ring structure.

Pi bonds, on the other hand, are non-bonding electrons between two overlapping p-orbitals. In the benzene ring, there are six pi bonds between each of the carbon atoms. These bonds are responsible for the planar, ring-like structure of benzene and contribute to its stability and reactivity.
