\sf x - y = 5 ........(equation \: 1)


\sf x + y = 3 .......(equation \: 2)

Add equation 1 and equation 2


\sf 2x = 8

Divide both sides by 2 ,

Substitute value of x in Equation 2


\sf 4 + y = 3


\sf y = 3 - 4


\sf y = -1

Therefore,

  • y = - 1
