Note:

\bold{To\ find:}\text{Slope of the line }ax+by+c=0.\\\text{We know, the slope of the line }y=mx+c\text{\ is}\ m.\\\text{Now,}\\ax+by+c=0\\\text{or,\ }by=-ax-c\\\text{or,\ }y=-(a)/(b)x-(c)/(b)

\text{Comparing this with}\ y=mx+c,\ \text{slope}(m)=-(a)/(b)

\text{Hence the slope of the line in the form }ax+by+c=0\ \text{is\ }(-a)/(b)\ \text{or}\\-(coefficient\ of\ x)/(coefficient\ of\ y).

Answer:

\text{Slope of the line }8x-7y=11,\ m=-(coefficient\ of\ x)/(coefficient\ of\ y)=(8)/(7)

Or you may simply convert 8x - 7y = 11 in the form y = mx + c as shown in the 'notes' to find the slope.
