A carpet layer wants to cut a piece of carpet that is 17.6 feet long into 6 equal-length pieces. How long will each of the cut pieces be? Round to the nearest hundredth.

I know ill have to divide but how would you do it step by step

So we know that one carpet is 17.6 feet long. Dividing a piece of cake, or a carpet gives that many pieces so, dividing the length of one carpet by 6 gives us 6 different carpets in which the sum of the 6 carpet's add up to 17.6 (the original carpet's length). So now we have 17.6/6=2.9333333 or 3 feet carpet.
