Answer:

..I don't understand "by filling in the boxes"

I solve:

2x+3y=1

2x+y=−9

per combination:

-1(2x+3y)=1

-2x-3y=-1

we solve:

-2x-3y=-1

2x+y=-9

--->-2y=-10

--->2y=10

---> y=10/2=5

we calculate x:

2x+3y=1

2x+15=1

2x=1-15

2x=-14

x=-14/2 =-7

solution(-7;5)

Answer:

  • x = -7
  • y = 5

Explanation:

2x + 3y = 1 -----(equation 1)

2x +y = − 9 ----(equation 2)

Subtract equation 1 and 2

2y = 10

Divide both sides by 2,

y = 5

To find the value of x, plug the value of y in the equation no. 1

2x + 3y = 1

2x + 3(5) = 1

2x + 15 = 1

Subtract 15 from both sides,

2x + 15 - 15 = 1 - 15

2x = -14

Divide both sides by 2,

x = -7

Therefore,

  • x = -7
  • y = 5
