Answer:

Given:-

Perimeter of rectangle =36 feet

Length of rectangle is 2 less than 3 times its width.

Let 'w' be the width of rectangle. Length=3w-2(as length is 2 less than 3 tines width)

According to the formula of perimeter of a rectangle, 2(l+b),

2(3w- 2+w)=36

6w-4+2w=36

Keeping the like terms together,

6w+2w-4=36

8w-4=36

8w=36+4

8w=40

w=40/8

w=5 feet

l=3w-2

So, substituting the values, we have:-

3×5–2

15–2

13feet

Therefore,w=5 feet

And

l=13 feet
