the function f(x) if we set it to 0, gives us two roots, x = 8 and x = 2, now, the vertex is half-way between both of those roots, so is namely when x = 5, hmmm what's f(x) when x = 5? or what's f(5)?

f(5)=(5-8)(5-2)\implies f(6)=-8\hspace{5em} {\Large \begin{array}{llll} \stackrel{ vertex }{(5~~,~-9)} \end{array}}
