To solve this equation we need to substitute 2 with x, because we know they're equivalent. So now, our equation is:

2(2)²+5(2)+1

Now, using GEMDAS/order of operations, we have to do 2² first because exponents comes before multiplication.

2² is 4 and 2·4=8. 5·2=10.

Now we have 8+10+1 and using addition, we can simplify it to 19, therefore getting 19.
