The area of the square is 4*4 = 16 square units. The area of the red triangle is 2*3*0.5 = 3 square units. Using geometric probability, the chance that a randomly selected point will fall in the shaded triangle is 3/16, or 18.75%.

In decimal form, this is 0.1875. Rounding, we get 0.188.

So, 0.188 is our answer.
