The distance between two cities on a map is 3 cm. If the actual distance between the two cities is 9.3 km, find the scale of the map.

Answer:

....To find the scale, simply divide the dimension on the plan by the actual dimension. The calculation formula is: Scale = Dimension on the plan / Actual dimension

the 2 dimensions must be in the same unit (cm, km, m, cm .....)

convert 9.3 km to cm: 93000

scale: 3/93000=1/31000
