Put x = 1

f(1) = -(1)² + 2(1) + 6

f(1) = -1 + 2 + 6

f(4) = -(4)^2 + 2(4) + 6

f(4) = -16 + 8 + 6

f(4) = -16 + 14

f(4) = -2
