Explanation:

To find x we need to know the hypotenuse formula which is c2=a2+b2

(I meant 2 as square)

First we have to work with the lower triangle which is a right angle. a=9 and b=5 so we can find c which is the hypotenuse

c2= 9(square)+5(ssquare)

c=(under route)106

c=10.3

(let c be x)

now we can work with the upper right angle which base is 4 and we have calsulsted the height

now,

x2= 10.3(square)+4(square)

x= (under route) 122.09

(ans)

Answer:

√(122)

Explanation:

yummy pythagorean theorem—

a^2 + b^2 = c^2
first find the hypotenuse of the bottom right triangle,

5^2 + 9^2 = c^2

we find out c = √(106)

We use this to find x, which is the hypotenuse of the second right triangle!

√(106 + 4^2) = √(122)

So that is your answer, simplest radical form as well :)
