The chemical specie will have half a bond. Option D
What is the bond order?
Bond order is a measure of the number of chemical bonds between two atoms in a molecule. It indicates the stability of a bond and is related to the bond length.
Generally, as bond order increases, bond length decreases. This is because a higher bond order corresponds to a stronger attraction between the two atoms, pulling them closer together.
The bond order of the cation of the Helium molecule is;
1/2(Number electrons in bonding molecular orbitals - Number of electrons in nonbonding molecular orbitals)
1/2 ( 8 - 7)
= 0.5
