A carpet tile measures 50 cm by 50 cm. How many of these tiles would be needed to cover

the floor of a room 6 m long and 4 m wide?

Answer:

Area of room = (6 × 100)(4 × 100)

= 24 × 10,000

= 240,000 cm²

Number of carpet tiles

= 240,000 cm²/2,500 cm² = 96

96 carpet tiles are needed.
