let us have 2 numbers that we don't know be x and y since we know that they both have a difference of 6 we can state that

eq A = x - y = 6

and since they have a total of 60

eq B = x + y = 60

2. now if we do eq A - eq B

x - y = 6

-x - y = -60

we get

-2y = -54 =

y = 27

and if we input y into eq A

x -27 = 6 =

x = 33

therefore

x = 33 , y = 27
