. Find the dimensions of the block of land.

length = 45 m

width = 5 m

Explanation:

Let length = L

width = W

perimeter = 100

2(W + L) = 100

W + L = 50

W = 50 - L ... [1]

area = 225

W × L = 225

(50 - L) × L = 225

50L - L² = 225

L² - 50L + 225 = 0

(L - 5)(L - 45) = 0

L = 5 or 45

since L is usually longer than W, we take L = 45 m

W × L = 225

W × 45 = 225

W = 5 m
