Distribute the 6 to the terms in the ( )

6x -42 + 8 = 2(x-3)

Distribute the 2 to the terms in the ( )

6x -42 + 8 = 2x - 6

Combine like terms placing the variables on the left side and constants on the right

4x = 28

Divide both sides by 4

x = 7
