The average is the sum of the numbers divided by the number of numbers

(7+12+6+10+p)/5 = 8

7+12+6+10+p = 40
35+p = 40
p = 5

Hello :)

Answer:

p = 5

Explanation:

Our task is to find the value of p.

Remember that the average of 7, 12, 6, 10, p is the sum of 7 + 12 + 6 + 10 + p divided by 5 (because there are 5 numbers).

\sf{\cfrac{7+12+6+10+p}{5}=8}

Multiply both sides by 5.

\sf{7+12+6+10+p=40}

Next, combine the like terms.

\sf{35+p=40}

\sf{p=40-35}

\sf{p=5}
